NAVEEN KUMAR P
"Building practical solutions at the intersection of embedded systems, IoT, electronics, and automotive technology."
Third-year undergraduate at SIMATS Engineering (CGPA 8.4/10) with hands-on industrial trainee exposure at HL Mando. Passionate about microcontroller architectures, physical sensor telemetry, and reliable hardware-software interfacing.
About Me
Practical electronics engineering background, academic performance, and industrial trainee exposure.
I am a third-year Electronics and Communication Engineering student at SIMATS Engineering, Chennai, with a current cumulative CGPA of 8.4/10 (expected graduation in 2028).
My technical career interests focus on Embedded Systems, Internet of Things (IoT), Electronics, VLSI, and Automotive Electronics. I focus on bridging theoretical circuit and digital design concepts with hands-on microcontroller firmware and sensor integration.
During my three-month industrial internship as a Short-Term Trainee at HL Mando, I received direct exposure to automotive manufacturing operations on the Power Pack Assembly line, participating in servo motor assembly for automotive steering systems.
I have developed and bench-tested an ESP32-based Smart Energy Audit System using microwave radar presence detection, and I am currently pursuing professional Embedded Systems and IoT training through HCLTech to further refine my low-level development capabilities.
Technical Skills
Practical skills organized by domain without arbitrary percentages or fabricated experience ratings.
Internship Experience
Practical manufacturing and assembly line experience in automotive steering applications.
Featured Project
Hands-on hardware and embedded system designed, wired, and tested.
Smart Energy Audit System Using Microwave Occupancy Detection
An ESP32-based engineering project combining microwave occupancy detection with electrical monitoring to explore occupancy-aware energy management.
This project investigates intelligent energy conservation by measuring electrical parameters (voltage and current) alongside human presence. Unlike standard infrared (PIR) sensors that fail when occupants are stationary, the Doppler microwave sensor provides continuous presence tracking through physical obstructions. The ESP32 processes real-time telemetry and automates test load switching through an optocoupler-isolated relay module.
Components & Hardware Modules
Smart Energy Audit System Using Microwave Occupancy Detection
Concept & Motivation: Energy efficiency in modern commercial and educational environments often suffers from false vacancy indications by conventional passive infrared (PIR) sensors when occupants are typing or sitting still. This system integrates the RCWL-0516 microwave Doppler radar sensor, operating at ~3.18 GHz, which penetrates non-conductive barriers and detects micro-movements accurately.
Hardware Testing & Setup:
- Microcontroller: ESP32 executing C/Embedded C firmware to sample analog transducer outputs.
- Occupancy Sensing: RCWL-0516 digital output pin interfaced with ESP32 GPIO with debouncing logic.
- Current & Voltage Telemetry: ACS712 current transducer and ZMPT101B voltage transformer calibrated to calculate active electrical power.
- Isolation & Switching: Optocoupler-isolated relay module connected to safely actuate the 230V AC LED bulb test load.
Certification & Training
Active technical training in embedded systems and IoT engineering.
